I'm staying in Rio de Janeiro this upcoming summer and fall through a program called Workaway (workaway.ifno if you're unfamiliar), I'll be staying and working in a hostel fin exchange for room and board. It will be very casual and not a sweatshop or anything, and even though food and shelter will be provided, living expenses will still cost me. Obviously, living in a city is expensive to just be out on the town and enjoy yourself and learn the city. So, for those who have had similar experiences abroad, specifically through Workaday maybe, what is the best way I could earn a little cash on the side to dampen expenditures? Is it possible to get a job washing dishes or something like that at a local restaurant maybe under the table? Or, should I contact the people I'm staying with and ask if I can work more than is expected and receive monetary compensation?... Read More »
